The contemplative life; what do I do with my attention?

In a world where everything is more accessible, what are you choosing to call into your life?

Are you reaching for more of what’s available to everyone? Does traveling the world seem more exciting than your current life situation?

While a lifestyle of external freedom might seem attractive on the surface, it doesn’t address the question: what can I take with me? what remains?

I encourage you to consider what you are synthesizing through your experiences: perhaps a fleeting sense of limitlessness? If we cultivate an inner landscape through a spiritual practice like music, our external experiences will result in a more vivid imagination that we carry with us into all future moments.

The inner landscape is the only one that’s truly limitless. And its the only place where we can return after exploring the world. There’s depth in the emptiness, if we can create space between our identity and sensory experiences.
